Age not a limitation for wāhine MMA fighter

Raeleen Simeon of Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Kauwhata descent will step into an MMA cage for the first time.

“I just wanted to challenge myself, whether or not I’ll get fit enough to do it and i just wanted one, just try it once,” said Simeon.

Not only is it Simeon’s first ever MMA fight, she is also fighting three days before her 50th birthday making her the oldest MMA fighter in NZ.  She says, “No it's not too bad, it's not the age thing that bothers me.”

Raeleen is proof that you're never too old to take up a new sport, even if it's one of the toughest in the world.

Her training partner and son are also MMA fighters.

The fight will be held at the Princesses of Pain 46 fight night on November 21.
