Entries are now open for the prestigious 2015 APRA Maioha Award for Māori artists who show excellence in contemporary Māori music and to acknowledge waiata in te reo Māori.
The first Maioha Award was presented in 2003 to Ngaiwi Apanui for the song, Whārikihia.
Following a successful year and the release of his album, Tiki Tapu, Rob Ruha (Te Whānau-a-Apanui) won the award for the song, Tiki Tapu. Composed completely in Te Reo Māori and in a mōteatea style, Ruha's second single release speaks of his passion for Moko Konohi (Māori male facial moko).

The winner of the Maioha Award receive the taonga "Te Ngore" for the year, along with a $3,000 cash prize.
Entries close on Monday 8 June at 5pm, and the Awards Night will be held on September 10 at Auckland's Vector Arena. Entry forms can be found here.
