ASB Polyfest kicks-off encouraging health & safety

Three challenges laid and accepted, paving the way for the start of the ASB Polyfest Auckland Secondary Schools Māori and Pacific Islands Cultural Festival, nearing it's 40 years of existence.

Over 90,000 people are expected to visit the Manukau Velodrome to watch 9000 students perform their hearts out for trophies, bragging rights and ultimate victory.

Hapai te Hauora Tāpui is one the major sponsors of this event and they also use this opportunity to get the health and safety message out to our youth and their families.

This year's challenge to participants is to stop drinking fizzy drinks and also to educate them on the harmful effects of synthetic cannabis, known as legal highs.

Host school and last year’s champions, Western Springs College have the envious task of making sure the festival runs smoothly and that the challenges are laid before the students, and encourage them to accept those challenges.
