Auckland City Mission feeds over 2000 people

Over two thousand people were treated to a Christmas day lunch for the Auckland City Mission's annual charity event.

Hundreds of volunteers spent the morning decorating the Viaduct Events Centre before serving up a chicken roast with 300kg of ham and 300kg of potatoes to feed the masses.

One of the volunteers says, “I'm a team leader so I looked after 18 tables here and we have wonderful people like Fiona here and they get 3 tables each and get all the names and presents and give them out.”

The event has taken months of intense planning by the Auckland City Mission. It was first held 25 years ago at the Auckland Town Hall and to this day the Mission continues to feed those who are less fortunate.
