The body of a baby was discovered this morning at a reserve in Mangere at 8:30am today.

A member of the public was walking through Mona Avenue when they came across the body.

Police are yet to confirm any details but the deceased baby is believed to be very young, possibly a newborn.

Police have serious concerns for the well-being of the baby's mother. They're now focusing on identifying the woman.

They're asking anyone who has any information to contact police immediately.
