Brad Rona first-time finalist for Māori Sports Awards

It's been an amazing year for softball legend Brad Rona.

Brad helped the Black Sox win the world championships held in NZ at the start of the year and he's also been named as a finalist for the Māori Sports Awards.

Brad Rona is humbled to be named for the first time as a finalist in the Māori Sports Awards.

Brad has been playing softball for years, and in his fourth world champs this year, he helped the Black Sox claim another prestigious world title.

He says that victory was made even sweeter, as it happened at home in front of all his family.

But how much longer does this Te Ātiawa descendant have in the game, and would he like another world title?

He believes it's a couple of years away yet, and that he has to listen to his body.  When the body is ready, he says he'll give it a go.

While Brad is happy with his year so far, becoming the Māori Sportsman of the Year would be the icing on the cake.
