'History of the Kingitanga' is an exhibition launched at the Mangere Arts Centre, as a lead up to celebrations of King Tuheitia's tenth year on the throne of his ancestors who reigned before him.
The Māori King Movement is currently in it's 158th Year of existence. The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase its history, to inform and educate the public about how and when the Kīngitanga started.
The exhibition is also a forum to learn about the impact it has had on the past, the present and what plans are afoot for King Tuheitia's 10th and the King Movement's 160th year celebrations.
This exhibition has been created through Te Puea Marae, Māngere with Tainui, Waikato tribal and manawhenua representatives.
Discussions about the venue and the celebration proceedings are ongoing. However, it is expected to a very huge and well supported occasion.
