Code of conduct needed for vulnerable whānau – Housing Advocate

A south Auckland housing advocate is calling for the introduction of a code of conduct for private landlords and more focus to be put on affordable housing.

In just one year Maylene Harrison has helped 125 families and almost 500 children into homes. She says a code of conduct needs to be made to stop landlords from taking advantage of vulnerable families.

She told Native Affairs the Government and country as a whole needs to take the issue seriously.
