Combined Exhibition a first for Gossage sisters

Papakura Art Gallery has an exhibition which brings the paintings of sisters Aroha and Star Gossage, together for the first time.

Aroha's style seeks to create an indigenous spiritual connection to landscape and to imbue her paintings with a sense of mauri, the energy and regeneration of the living environment.

Star's colour palette refers to the elemental forces of earth, sea and sky, paints often mixed with local clay, dirt, and lime to achieve the hues and textures she requires.

Daughters of the artists Peter and Tilly Gossage. Ngati Wai; Ngati Ruanui mother French; Portuguese and English father, the title 'Hikohiko' refers to the twinkling of the stars Pleiades signalling the beginning of the new year for Māori.
