Cunliffe resigns as Labour Party leader

David Cunliffe has announced his resignment as Labour leader.  Now the hunt is on for another leader to fill the party shoes, “I have today decided to resign the leadership of the Labour Party.”

It is clear to see there has been in-fighting from all factions of the Labour Party around the leadership, so today's announcement will allow Labour to move forward.

Cunliffe said, “It's not easy, I won’t lie about that politics is a robust business.  If I am re-elected I will expect of others what I'm prepared to give myself which is 100% support to the new leadership.”

With the National Party looking to govern the country for another three years and Cunliffe stepping down, there’s no doubt Labour will be exploring all avenues for a strong party rebuild.
