Dapper suits and motorbikes

Hundreds of motorbike riders dressed head to toe in suits and period costume, took to their motorcycles in Auckland today to encourage men to get tested for prostate cancer.

Auckland Ride organiser Mike Andrews says, "The whole idea of the ride is to raise awareness for prostate cancer and the way that we do that is to wear something that is completely unsafe on the motorcycle."

For Ronnie Hape from Ngāti Kahungunu, it’s an issue that has hit close to home “My little brother has just survived prostate cancer so it's a big deal. He's just coming out of the other end of having chemo and radio therapy so why not support them.

The Auckland Ride began in 2012 with only 60 riders, this year over 300 bikes gathered at Cornwall Park to take part in the annual event.

Worldwide, thousands of vintage motorbike enthusiasts across 79 countries are taking part today to raise funds.
