Dream to launch new boat ramp in Māngere comes to fruition

A new boat ramp named 'Ngā Hau Māngere' (gentle breezes) was opened early this morning, with local Tainui and Te Wai-o-Hua elders leading the blessing.

It's a project that has finally come to fruition for the community of Māngere Bridge and the fishermen, boaties and fitness fanatics that frequent the area.

There were blessings to clear the way for future users of the new Māngere Bridge boat ramp and also acknowledgements to those who've lost their lives in this part of the Manukau Harbour.

The original name for the Māngere area has been revived by naming the boat ramp, 'Ngā Hau Māngere'.

A dream was finally fulfilled for all who came this morning to support the occasion.
