A week after torrential rains caused major flooding to northern and eastern areas, severe weather is set to close in on the upper North Island again.
MetService warns that parts of the Gisborne area that were affected by floods on Queen's Birthday weekend are at risk of further damage.
Gusts could also reach 90kmh in exposed parts of Auckland later this afternoon and on Tuesday.

A low pressure system from the tropics deepens to the northeast of New Zealand today as it gains assistance from a jet stream aloft. This deepening low will bring heavy rain to Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, and gales to eastern Bay of Plenty today and tomorrow, see warnings http://bit.ly/AllWarnings.
