Police have confirmed one person has died following a serious crash on State Highway 30 at Tikitere near Rotorua.
Another person has been transported to Rotorua Hospital in a serious condition.
The road is closed and is expected to remain so for some time.
Diversions are in place and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
