Festival organisers take part in Indigenous Film & Arts Festival

Over the past week, Te Waiora Māori Film Festival took part in The Indigenous Film & Arts Festival (IFAF) in Denver, Colorado.

Te Waiora Māori Film Festival Director, Leo Koziol introduced a number of Māori films at the festival, as well as giving a lecture on Māori cinema.

Koziol also took part in a one day native food symposium with experts in the preservation of food culture from around the world.

Koziol says, "Wairoa Māori Film Festival is now part of a global network working to promote and preserve indigenous food traditions."

Organisers are now hoping to showcase films on indigenous food at the Wairoa Māori Film Festival 2016.

"Wairoa Māori Film Festival has found a new family in Denver. To reawaken the connection between Denver and Aotearoa is something Wairoa is very proud to be part of," says Koziol.

Wairoa Māori Film Festival Inc. hopes to partner in future with IFAF and IIIRM on international projects related to cinema, food, architecture, art and design.

The Wairoa Māori Film Festival will be at Kahungunu Marae, Nuhaka, Wairoa from June 3 to 6 2016.
