Fire at Te Wānanga o Raukawa

Staff and students from Te Wānanga o Raukawa are in shock following a fire which ripped through one of its buildings.

The fire broke out at around 5.30pm yesterday.

The blaze was so strong, nine fire appliances and support people assisted.

At least one building was completely gutted by the fire and it’s understood the building was being developed into a showroom to hold traditional Maori carvings.

The carvings are said to have been in another building at the time of the fire.

There were no reported injuries and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
