A Glen Innes woman took Housing New Zealand to Tenancy Tribunal today claiming she was poorly treated when she was served with an eviction notice.
Ioela (Niki) Rauti argued that Housing New Zealand breached the tenancy agreement by coming to her door in Glen Innes without providing 48 hours notice.
“You can be sure Housing NZ will not make this mistake again,” says Niki Rauti.
She has lived in her house for 21 years, which has been earmarked for removal as part of a redevelopment plan for Glen Innes.
Lisa Gibson says, “They want her to leave her home, because the Tamaki redevelopment company has come into Glen Innes and of course they are redeveloping the area.”
Ms Rauti is part of the Tamaki Housing Group who have been protesting against house removals in her community.
Niki Rauti says, “It gave me an opportunity to speak at the tribunal, which I would not be able to do if they were taking me to the tribunal.”
Te Kāea contacted Housing New Zealand today for comment but we've had no reply. The case has been adjourned.
