Greenpeace activists charged with trespass

Four Greenpeace activists have been charged with trespass following a protest at Parliament yesterday.

The group evaded security and scaled Parliament House walls with solar panels where they perched themselves on the roof and remained for most of the day.

The two men and two women abseiled down from the roof of the Parliament building just before 5pm and were arrested by Police.

They were taken to Wellington central police station where they were each charged with one count of trespass, which carries a maximum penalty of 3 months in prison.

The four have now been released from Police custody and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
