Hahana named as NZ Web Show awards finalist

The NZ Web Fest #NZWF15 recently announced nominees across four award categories who'll compete for the inaugural NZ Web Fest awards next month.  Named in the list of finalists was the popular Māori rangatahi web series, Hahana.

Hahana is up against other magazine shows NZ Off AirHuman PostcardsIf These Walls Could Talk and White Man Behind a Desk.

The upbeat, rangatahi savvy show is hosted by Sonny Ngatai, a former National Manu Kōrero winner and all-around nice guy.

An episode with well-known Māori comedian Jimi Jackson saw the show nominated into the inaugural Web Fest awards.

However one of their most popular shows to date, has been their episode with the Royal Family.

Hahana producer Vicki Makutu says, "The announcement was such a surprise, came out of the blue."  That, "It was a total shock," but feels like the show is getting better and better.  Makutu also revealed that Hahana is now set to become a television series.

Judges David Stubbs and Thomas Robins are currently viewing the nominated works and voting.  The awards presentation will take place on November 7 to end the NZ Web Fest.
