Hamilton man arrested following assault

A 36-year-old man is in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital after receiving head injuries during an assault at approximately 3pm yesterday in the Hamilton CBD.

According to Detective Sergeant Matt Cranshaw, “A 44-year-old man, who was known to the victim, has been arrested and is appearing today in the Hamilton District Court charged with wounding with intent to injure.”

Hamilton Police want to reassure the public that the incident was not a result of gang tensions which has been speculated.

“Hamilton Police assure the public that this is an isolated incident involving two people who know each other and was not gang related,” says Cranshaw.
