Himona pays it forward

Juanita Himona is on a mission to cook for over 150 people staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland tomorrow.

Today Ms Himona is completing her last minute preparations.

In June of this year, Juanita along with her family stayed in the Ronald McDonald House as they waited for her youngest son Te Wiroa Eparaima who was having open heart surgery.

She believes in paying it forward after they helped her baby during surgery in March 2012.

Over the last few months she has been fund-raising to purchase food to take to Auckland in order to provide a three-course meal for the occupants at the house.

Ms Himona says, “Without them I don't think that I would have made it out of my baby's journey.  I still have one more surgery to go.”

She will be leaving Rotorua tomorrow around 10am with 12 other volunteers who hope to make it a special stay for those families at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland.
