The stormy weather hitting Northland couldn’t keep hundreds of mourners from paying their final respects to Jordan Kemp who died this week after being injured playing rugby.
Auckland Grammar students shook the ground with a haka in respect of Kemp as his coffin left his ancestral house.
Amongst the hundreds of people in attendance were rugby luminary from the NZRU and Northland Rugby Union.
According to Grandfather, Russel Kemp, “Huge turnout over the last two or three days it was massive you know, and I thank everybody for paying respects to Jordan."
It is believed, the NZRU are taking positive steps into identifying accidents like these and plan to meet with the family. In the meantime Otamatea Rugby Club’s next competition game this Saturday will be in dedication of Kemp’s memory.
Kemp has touched the hearts of people all around the country and he will be deeply missed by his whānau and friends.
