Hurimoana Dennis faces three charges of kidnapping

Senior Police Officer Hurimoana Nui Dennis is now facing three charges of kidnapping.

Today, Inspector Hurimoana Dennis and Sergeant Vaughan Perry appeared before a Court Registrar in the Auckland District Court.

Both have pleaded not guilty and have elected to be trialled by Jury.

51-year-old Dennis faces two charges of kidnapping and 44-year-old Vaughan Perry faces two charges of kidnapping in relation to an alleged incident at Auckland City Police station on May 5, 2015.

Dennis also faces an additional kidnapping charge in relation to an alleged incident at Auckland International Airport on June 10, 2015.

Both incidences are in relation to the alleged kidnapping of a teenage boy.

The maximum penalty for one charge of kidnapping is 14 years.

Dennis has been under investigation since last year for allegedly locking a teenage boy in an Auckland Police station cell, in an attempt to end a sexual relationship with an underage girl.

Both remanded on bail and to reappear and the case is set to be reviewed February 15.
