Ikaroa-Rāwhiti polling day

Today is polling day for the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti seat and according to our reporters out in the regions, polling booths throughout the electorate have seen variable numbers of voters.

The electorate spans from north of Wellington to the East Cape.

Our reporters are with the four candidates standing for the seat, and will be updating us throughout the evening from Ruatörea through to Gisborne and across to Napier.

Our political reporter, Maiki Sherman is at Manutuke Marae and the home people, Rongowhakaata are preparing to welcome Meka Whaitiri.

As for voting,in past elections for the Māori seats, there have been plenty of early votes,so we went out today to find out if it would be more of the same on the big day.
