Jackson challenges appointment of Tāmaki Mātāwaka representative

"It should be up to mātāwaka to decide who should represent urban Māori in Auckland, not mana whenua."

Willie Jackson has challenged the appointment of new board members as he believes the process selection was flawed.

Jackson was a candidate for a board position, but Tony Kake was chosen instead.  Jackson believes his selection was one-sided.

A High Court judge has also ruled that the process followed was flawed and that the selection should be carried out again.
