John Key pledges $3mil towards climate change

Questions are being asked at the G20 Summit in Brisbane if the world's biggest countries are doing enough to reduce the harmful effects of carbon emissions.

Prime Minister John Key has also said that he will pledge $3mil toward climate change.

In 2011, Brisbane endured a major flood, which some experts linked to climate change.  Despite that, the issue wasn't on the G20 agenda, though that didn't stop President Barack Obama.

Obama pledged $3bil for the Green Climate Fund.

Last week, America and China made a stronger commitment to reducing their carbon emissions.

However, John Key doesn't agree that climate change is "the most urgent threat", despite NZ MFAT briefings advising so.

At the start of Next Year, NZ will set new targets for 2020 in reducing our carbon emissions.
