Joseph Parker confirmed to face Kali Meehan

A bout between heavyweight boxers Joseph Parker and Kali "Mean Hands" Meehan has been confirmed to take place on October 15.

Meehan is definitely no stranger to the ring; his last professional bout saw him topple Shane "The Mountain Warrior" Cameron and win the WBA Pan African heavyweight title last November at the North Shore Events Centre.

Last June, Meehan became the inaugural Super 8 Heavyweight champion, defeating Hunter Sam (Qtr), Brice Ritani-Coe (Semi) and then Michael Sprott by TKO in the final.

Meehan was touted to be the next in line to face Parker, and today a 12-round fight at Auckland's Trust Stadium has been confirmed.

This comes following a successful weekend for Parker in Invercargill, defeating Australian boxer Bowie Tupou by KO a minute into the first round, winning him the WBO Africa and the vacant OPBF heavyweight titles. The win also meant Parker retains his PABA and WBO Oriental heavyweight titles.

Both fighters are expected to put on a powerful show come October.  It's also been announced that Brown Buttabean Dave Letele will face Kaleni Taetuli in a rematch as the undercard to Parker v Meehan.

Tickets for the event will be on sale soon via ducoevents.co.nz.
