Last week the inquest into the death of international white water kayaker Louise Jull was held in Rotorua.
On Friday 23rd of October 2015, Te Kāea reported Ngāti Pikiao of Ōkere are supporting a recommendation by Coroner Wallace Bain to close off a section of the Kaituna river.
The report also said Coroner Bain recommended that the section where Ms Jull was found should be off limits. This was incorrect. The Coroner adjourned proceedings. No ruling or recommendation has been made.
