Kevin Locke released from English Super League club

26-year-old Kevin Locke arrived back in New Zealand on Sunday, after being released by English Super League club side, Wakefield Wildcats.

Wakefield Wildcats is the third club Locke has been released from in two years.

After their own independent investigation the Wakefield Wildcats confirmed that Locke and fellow Wildcats Reece Lyne, and former Parramatta NRL half Tim Smith were involved in stealing head coach, Brian Smith's car, before crashing it in to a wall in Hull.

Wakefield chairman, Michael Carter, today confirmed Locke's departure from the club side.

He states, "Kevin won't play for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats again," speaking to English media today.

Locke, who has played in Auckland's Fox Memorial Cup with the Pt Chevalier Pirates, signed with Wakefield on a short-term deal in June.

Carter says that Locke had sustained a shoulder injury in recent weeks, so the team was focussing on "playing without him anyway".

Locke played a total of 88 games for the Warriors between 2009 and 2014. He also had 13 matches for Salford and eight for Wakefield.

Capped for the New Zealand Kiwis eight times, Locke last pulled on the national jersey in 2013.
