KidsCan and NZ Warriors treat kids with free raincoats

KidsCan has taken 37 decile 1-4 schools off its waiting list this year and one of those schools is Te Kura Akonga o Manurewa.

KidsCan arrived to their school today with treats and the students also received a warm surprise.

The Vodafone Warriors arrived in style.

The NRL stars have partnered up with the KidsCan "Raincoats for Kids" programme.

The lucky kids of Te Kura Akonga o Manurewa received raincoats, shoes and food.

Dominique Peyroux says, "It's good to give back to the community and these promos will help them out alot and it's good to be a part of it."

So far KidsCan support 485 schools around the country, 12% of which are full Māori immersion shools.

Sophie Martignier says, "We try to not make them wait too long and we know when they want to be a KidsCan School there's a need for our support.  Obviously they need funding if they want our support.  So we try and not make them wait too long."

Sharlene Stewart says, "KidsCan have provided us with this, they also gave us pears and peaches."

15 more schools are on the waiting list but today these kids will lap up the rewards.
