Kiwi’s find inner spirit at Wanderlust festival

Kiwis from around the country were getting in touch with their spiritual sides today as the yoga festival 'Wanderlust' rolled into Auckland's Western Springs Park. Originating in Canada in 2009, this was the first time the event has been held in NZ.

After their official welcome by the local iwi, the 2000 expected participants were able to take part in the different classes at Western Springs Park.

Shane Taupo says, “I think they can relate to it, because it's quite a spiritual practice. I definitely think more Māori should give it a try.”

Tainui-born Shane Taupo has been doing yoga for nearly five years. He says that as a Māori, he can relate to the spiritual aspect of yoga.

But it's not all about yoga and healthy living. The event will continue late into the night with Ladi6 and DJ Aroha taking the stage.
