Luke signs with the Warriors

The Vodafone Warriors have announced they have secured a major signing by confirming today that at the end of the 2015 NRL season outstanding Māori hooker Issac Luke will join the club.

This year will be the last time we see Issac Luke playing in Rabittohs' colours, after signing a three year deal with the New Zealand Warriors this morning.

The 27-year-old has been granted a release from the last two years of his Rabbitohs' contract, allowing him to join several fellow Kiwi internationals at Mt Smart Stadium.

In a statement released by the Warriors, Luke says, "I've been away from home for a long time now and I really miss it.

I've loved playing for the Rabbitohs. They've done so much for me but I wanted to go back to New Zealand at some stage and I'm grateful they've allowed me to go.

Going home to play for the Warriors has always been something I wanted to do.  I know so many of the boys there and I also like what's happening at the club since Jim has taken over."

Jim Doyle is the Vodafone Warriors new managing director who just arrived back to New Zealand from Sydney this afternoon.  He said this was one of the most significant signings in the club's history.

His signing follows last month's announcement that Kiwi and Sydney Roosters Roger Tuivasa-Sheck had been secured for three years from the end of the 2015 campaign.

Luke has been in the headlines many times for misconduct.  Former Warriors Coach Tony Kemp knows Luke on a personal level, working with him in the Kiwis and says there's a new Isaac that will be coming home.

Kemp is also aware with big signings like this, it will attract many new supporters.
