Vincent Skeen has been sentenced to five years and two months in jail today for the manslaughter of Luke Tipene in November 2014.
Skeen attacked Tipene with a broken bottle during a fight in the Auckland suburb of Grey Lynn. The assault caused lacerations to Tipene's jugular and he later died in hospital.
Skeen's sentence follows a two-week trial in July after a 2015 trial resulted in a hung jury.
TIpene, 17, was a promising rugby league player.
