MacDonald aiming for Chiefs starting spot

Chiefs hooker Quentin MacDonald will play back-up to Hikawera Elliot, Quentin comes into the reserves but admits he will keep pushing his team-mate for the starting spot in weeks to come.

The softly spoken Quentin MacDonald lets his hard work during team training do the talking.  The Rangitāne man, MacDonald says, "I knew coming here will always be a tussle, coming here Hika is going well, Nathan Harris is on the mend and we have Reece Marshall so it would be a tough ask for the hooker spot."

In a few hours, the team will face the Blues and Quentin will go about his duties.  Last year he joined Irish side Munster on a three-month contract.

He says, "To see a different part of the world, Super Rugby is the pinnacle. It's just good to get back and into the Chiefs' environment for the first time."

His time with the Crusaders has helped enhance his game, now he gets to see how the champions perform.  Tonight he gets to lock heads with All Black Keven Mealamu from the Blues.
