Māori Football NZ building future sport stars

Māori Football NZ has teamed up with Māori Sports Awards to promote soccer in Auckland's Māori schools, culminating in a Tamariki Ora Day, Whana Poikiri Matatahi on June 15 preceeding the Māori Sports Awards for 2015.

Today the programme was in play at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori ā-Rohe o Māngere, and Māori soccer coach Phil Parker says, "Many of these kids have potential and are already on their way to the sports awards stage."

The promotion and coaching clinics will visit over 15 Māori schools and will involve students from Years 3 to 13.

Numia Ponika-Rangi has a full report later on Te Kāea at 5:30pm with live subtitles.
