Māori Land court under review

The Māori Land Court (MLC) is under review.

It is charged with hearing matters relating to Māori land including succession, title improvements, sales, and the administration of Māori land trusts and incorporations.

The MLC was established in 1862 under the Native Lands Act.  The review will look at whether the court still serves its purpose, and one possible outcome is that its powers could be reduced.
