Māori MPs expenses

In three months, our MPs have logged expenses of over $3mil.  This from the Members' expense disclosure for October to December.

Apparently, the Māori Party leaders are at the top of the list.

Māori Party co-leaders gained Ministerial positions when they formed a Government with National, and they're making the most of it.

According to expense disclosures for MPs, in regards to internal costs, both Pita Sharples and Tariana Turia are amongst the top three spenders with the PM.

These are the figures released for the last three months of 2012.
Although Pita Sharples comes in at number two, it's better than previous quarters.
From July to September his expenses were higher than those of the PM.
It was the same story as well for the quarter from April to June.

Other Māori MPs such as Hekia Parata, those from Labour, as well as Hone Harawira and Te Ururoa Flavell all had expenses between $20-40,000 each, over the three months.
One reason for these amounts is the location and size of their electorates.

At the other end of the scale, Holly Walker from the Green Party was the most frugal with expenses of just $4000.

All up, for the three months to December last year, our MPs accrued expenses of almost $3.5mil.
