Māori Party orders for WoF trial for state houses

The Māori Party is calling on the government to release its findings into a Warrant of Fitness trial for state houses, following a ruling by a coroner who has linked the substandard condition of a state house to the death of a toddler in Ōtara, Auckland.

The Māori Party laying down a massive challenge to the house of Key.

Co-leader of the Māori Party, Marama Fox said, "How long do we have to wait for this issue to be resolved?  Until someone else is killed?  A child has died!"

Last year, the Māori Party initiated a Warrant of Fitness trial for 500 state houses.  However, the findings are still being held by Government.

Fox exclaimed, "It's on the heads of Government to fix these houses."

A coroner has linked the substandard condition of a state house with the death of a two-year-old toddler in Auckland.

The General Manager of Housing New Zealand knew a lot of numbers but she didn't know an important one.

According to the MP for Tāmaki Makaurau, Peeni Henare, the death of the child is on the hands of Housing New Zealand.

The Minister responsible, Bill English, says ministers will be looking for more information about how the death could have been avoided.
