Māori Party signs on with National

The Māori Party's signing of a confidence and supply deal with the National Party has been done and dusted.

This now means Te Ururoa Flavell is to hold ministerial roles of three portfolios, foremost of those being the newly created Māori Development and Whānau Ora.

It also includes a push for regional development, with Māori at the grassroots, and greater participation by Māori in the electoral process.

This agreement couldn't come at a better time. National now needs one more vote to pass their agenda in the house, and the Māori Party could be that vote.

Marama Fox has now been confirmed as a new MP into the House, Tariana Turia was still there supporting, and holding her title as co-leader of the Māori Party.

Tomorrow Prime Minister, John Key will be releasing the names of his Cabinet, with 25 Ministerial spots up for grabs, but for now Te Ururoa Flavell is the man of the hour, something he will have to get used to over the next three years.
