Māori youth touch rugby teams ready to take on rivals

Two NZ Māori youth touch teams are ready for their trip to Australia to compete against their Māori counterparts over there.

This is also the first time any Māori touch team has travelled abroad to play.

Unitec Marae has turned into a second home for the two teams before they fly out to Australia tomorrow.

With temperatures expected in their 30s in Australia, the teams got straight into the hard yards on the field in the heat of the day.

The Māori contingent is made up of a U20 male team and a U16 mixed team, and apart from the expected weather conditions, both teams know their opposition will be very skilful.

While the teams look impressive on the field, it's been hard work for the players and management to fundraise for the inaugural trip.

And it will be game on for these talented youngsters.
