McLean confident he can retain Tāmaki seat for Māori Party

After being voted in as the successful candidate to represent the Māori Party at the polls for the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate, Rangi McLean is very confident but aware that the huge battle ahead for him now is to retain the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate under the cloak of the Māori Party.

According to Tunuiārangi (Rangi) McLean, “The support from local tribes, pan tribal groups, and individuals has been overwhelming. I feel very fortunate and honoured.”

While not yet sure of who the other political parties have named to contest the Tāmaki seat, with delays and hesitation in naming their candidates, Rangi is still confident of a victory.

Although he's still on a high from yesterday's victory, there's no time for complacency, it's time to gather the troops and plan ahead.

Mr McLean says, “We’ll be meeting this Wednesday to plan and discuss strategies on how we can retain this electorate under the cloak of the Māori Party.”
