A fund provided by the Ministry of Health is helping people who live with disabilities, live independently.
Wheelchair access ramps and easy access to showers are just some of the modifications available through the fund.
For Tony Howe (Waikato-Tainui) who lives with a condition known as muscular dystrophy, only one access to his home is subsidised by the Govt.
Mr Howe says the modifications funded by the Ministry are for basic needs only, and highly recommends that two accessible entrances for those needing wheelchair access to homes, be provided for through the funding.
