Mōtai-Tangata-Rau take out Tainui Waka Kapa Haka Regionals 2014

Mōtai-Tangata-Rau's hard work has finally been rewarded after many years as their group were awarded a spot on the national Te Matatini stage.

Ngahuia Kopa says, "I have much respect for all my group members, our families, supporters and composers. Yes indeed, I'm very happy."

Ngā Pou o Roto came in at fourth place, taking out the awards for best costume and best choral.

Placing third, Te Pou o Mangataawhiri won the categories of best poi, best original composition and best weaponry.

This year's favourites at the Tainui regionals, Te Iti Kahurangi, came in at second place, winning best reo, best mōteatea and best female leader.

The overall title of best kapa haka in the Tainui region went to Mōtai-Tangata-Rau.
