Motorcycle Club supports services hit with budget cuts

Iron Thunder Motorcycle Club are doing a Charity run from Manukau to the Kopu Bridge, and then back through Kaiaua, stopping at various locations to collect donations.

They are disappointed at the Government funding cuts to the Westpac helicopter, and also they support the good work that their members receive from the Auckland Spinal Unit.

According to Gary Parata, “The Māori name we have for Iron Thunder is Mākarakara, we're doing a charity ride to collect money for the Westpac Helicopter who have had their funding cut by the Government, and also the Auckland Spinal Unit.”

Motorcycles and riders of all shapes and sizes from all over Auckland gathered for the ride in support of the two charities, with the Governments funding cuts to the Westpac Helicopter a concern.

“The Governments got a habit of cutting funds to essential services, if they're gonna do their jobs they need to be resourced and unfortunately they're not.”
