My Whenua online service to help Māori manage their land

A new website could help thousands of Māori across the country manage their own land online and keep up to date with their land trust's activities, and if you have multiple blocks of land you can see them all in one place.

It's the newest online initiative to be rolled out by Te Tumu Paeroa called "My Whenua."

Te Tumu Paeroa serves over 70,000 Māori land owners across 2,000 trusts.  Jamie Tuuta, head of Te Tumu Paeroa, says it's the first programme of its kind in the country.

The project is in the planning stages where 13 apartments will be built in Wellington's Evans Bay Parade.  This area is traditionally called Te Aro Pā and was once occupied by Taranaki.

The housing development will give families affordable housing in a prime location, and through their online website, land owners will be able to engage in the future development of their family lands.
