Native Affairs – Hīkoi Anniversary

Today marks the 40th anniversary of that famous day when a small band of Māori left Te Hapua in the Far North on a march to Wellington to protest against the loss of Māori land. Known as Te Rōpū o Te Matakite, they were led by the late Dame Whina Cooper.

The impact of the march has been far reaching but as Iulia Leilua reports veterans say there is still plenty of unfinished business.
