Native Affairs - Farewell to a friend and colleague

The Native Affairs team wants to acknowledge the sudden passing of a friend and colleague, Patagaw Talimalaw, General Secretary of the World Indigenous Broadcasters Network.

Patagaw who was just 33 hailed from the indigenous Taiwanese Tribe the Paiwan.

Patagaw worked tirelessly to advocate, support and promote Indigenous broadcasting all around the world but she had a special love of te Aō Māori and spent two months working at Māori Television as the co-producer of Indigenous Insight.

She had recently relocated to the Aboriginal people’s Television network in Canada after spending 2 years working with Norway’s Indigenous broadcaster NRK Saami.

We are devastated by her loss. No reira Patagaw kua mahue mai o tapuwae ki te one o maumahara e kore rawa e ukuia e te tai o wareware.
