Native Affairs - Kōwhiri 14, Waiariki Part 4

The three leading candidates campaigning to win the Waiariki Electorate are live in studio for the third of seven Native Affairs-Kōwhiri 14 Debate Specials.

Joining Mihingarangi Forbes are Te Ururoa Flavell of the Māori Party, Annette Sykes of the MANA Movement and Rawiri Waititi who will stand in the Waiariki electorate for the Labour Party.

In her journey around Waiariki, Native Affairs reporter Semiramis Holland visits Taupō to ask the people there what the most important issues are for them.  After spending time with the grassroots voters in the region, she asks the candidates what they can do to ensure their concerns around kaitiakitanga are listened to?

Also in the third set of results from the Māori Television Reid Research Poll, we asked voters in Waiariki what issues are the most important to you this election?

The third most important issue was Te Reo Māori on 91%, the Cost of Living came in at number two with 94%, and first equal, and the most important issues to voters in Waiariki were, Education, Family Violence and Child Poverty on 96% each.
