Native Affairs - Māori Television Panel

The board of Māori Television has been described as having snatched defeat from the jaws of victory following their bungled recruitment of a new CEO.

The leaking of shortlisted candidates to the media prompted 100 kaimahi to sign a letter asking the board not to appoint one of the contenders.

Labour MP Clare Curran alleged board chair Georgina Te Heuheu had a conflict of interest.

The board ultimately decided to cancel the recruitment, it was then revealed board member Ian Taylor had resigned earlier, concerned with their process.

To discuss this, Mihingarangi Forbes is joined by Producer Bailey Mackey, Communications Strategist Trish Sherson and Chair of Te Pūtahi Pāoho, Willie Jackson.
