Native Affairs - Operation 8

After a long wait the Independent Police Conduct Authority has finally released a scathing report on Operation 8.

It describes some police actions as unlawful, unjustified and unreasonable. Police raided the tiny settlement of Rūātoki as part of their highly publicised anti-terror operation.

Targets of the operation were scattered across the country. But it was the people of Rūātoki who felt the full wrath of our police force and they say they were terrorised by it.

Was the decision to target Rūātoki a decision based on race? That's the question I put to Police Commissioner Peter Marshall.
